Gas Leaks near Wellesley Schools

The Town of Wellesley is working with the utility companies to correct known gas leaks. We are especially concerned with leaks near our schools. Please check out our maps listed below including a map which outlines the gas leaks within 100 feet of our schools and daycares.

_{This map shows the approximate location of natural gas leaks in Wellesley as listed in the utility provider's Annual Service Quality Report to the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. This March 2018 report shows leaks as of December 31, 2017.}

_{In 2017, the Wellesley NRC commissioned the independent gas inspection company Gas Safety Inc. to conduct a study of methane emissions in the Town of Wellesley. Methane readings were collected from May 11 to June 15, 2017.  The gas readings depicted on this map are a subset of the data that were collected, showing the upper range of methane readings.  Average ambient methane readings are around 2ppm (parts per million).}
