Commuter/Regional Railroad

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) offers daily train service to and from Boston via the Framingham/Worcester line.  Beginning on October 2, 2023 new MBTA schedules for the Framingham-Worcester line offer more late-night weekday trains from Boston and more trains during peak commuting times.

  • "Clock Face Scheduling" - Commuter rail weekday trains run on an hourly, or half-hour, schedule throughout the day and every 45 minutes during peak commuting periods
  • Late-night trains from Boston on weekdays
  • $10 unlimited weekend passes
  • Discounted fares for senior citizens, people with disabilities, students, low-income individuals
  • With each fare paying adult, two children (infants through age 11) may ride for free on the commuter rail
  • Commuter rail passes are also valid on the MBTA bus, subway, and ferry network
