Meet Our Coaches
Member of Wellesley Climate Action Committee since 2018. Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business. 35 Years in Project Management and Plant Operations with Shell Chemical and General Electric Plastics. Installed Air Source Heat Pump, solar and battery in second home in NYS. Working at decarbonizing my all-gas home in Wellesley.
A resident of Wellesley for 32 years, Mary has spent much of that time learning and teaching others the hopeful message that we can all do something to help the environment and fight climate change. This has run the gamut from serving as interim director of the Wellesley Public Elementary Schools Nature Walk Program when her children were young, to co-founding both Wellesley Green Schools and Sustainable Wellesley, where she currently serves on the Leadership Team.
When the new town high school was proposed, she initiated a movement to make it a certified high performance (green) school, one of the first in the state. And while on the Town’s Advisory Committee, she served as liaison to the School Building Committee for both of the new Hunnewell and Hardy schools, which were ultimately designed as ‘net zero emissions’ ready.
She is currently a member of Wellesley’s Climate Action Committee and its Buildings Working Group.
Brian has been a Wellesley resident for the past 10 years. Having recently converted his 100+ year old residence to all electric systems (including a central heat pump, heat pump hot water heater and electric vehicle charger), Brian feels that other Wellesley residents may benefit from his experience in making these transitions.
Recently retired, Brian’s spent 40 years in Project Management, Proposal Writing and Evaluation and Risk Analysis at a local Fortune 500 company. He is keenly interested in environmental matters such as climate change and sustainability and is currently educating himself in the practice of natural plant landscaping and yard maintenance.
Brian is an advocate for future young scientists and is currently on the board of Directors for New England Sci-Tech, a local non-profit STEM education center.
A resident of Wellesley for over 40 years, Bob has always been interested in environmental issues and climate change. He recently converted one of his homes from natural gas to a whole-house Air Source Heat Pump, providing an economical solution for both heat and air conditioning to this 100 year old home.
Bob worked at Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships for over 11½ years, helped form and start Efficiency Forward Inc., and is on the Board of Directors for the Acadia Center. He has an engineering and business background.
Bob is very interested in helping you in your energy efficiency and home improvement journey!
Elijah has lived in Wellesley for more than 20 years. He currently works in the medical device industry, but ever since his days as an engineer in the Navy has had a keen interest in the "systems" that we have in our homes. As his family well knows, he loves basements and attics (the older the better!) because that's where all the magic happens!
He volunteers as an Energy Coach to help our neighbors simplify the process of achieving their energy/environmental goals, whatever they may be. Wellesley is a wonderful place to raise a family and this program helps make our town better for the next generation of residents.
