The town of Wellesley's plastic bag bylaw regulates plastic and paper shopping bags, banning plastic check out bags in all retail establishments and setting specific guidelines for paper bags. The goal of this bylaw is to reduce litter and create a more environmentally sustainable community. This bylaw was passed in April 2016 and went into effect for all businesses beginning in 2017.

All residents are encouraged to use reusable bags when they shop.
